crystal visions

Blurry picture, but the legend herself.

Mystical goddess of rock, sister of the moon, and one of my personal idols (yep, up there with mom and Jesus) Stevie Nicks graced Hampton Roads, Virginia with her witchy presence and raspy ballads on July 14.

Rock hall-of-famer (inducted as a part of Fleetwood Mac), Stevie Nicks has lived the ultimate sex, drugs, and rock n roll life. From romantic involvement with band mates to at least two battles with rehab, she's seen it all. "We were beautiful, fast, sexy; love was everywhere."

Anyway, two reasons in particular of why I idolize her: the power of her poetry and iconic style. She wrote Landslide, a song you've heard even if you think you haven't, when she was just the ripe age of 24. She also has established herself as a dark, shawl-bearing, layers of chiffon-wearing, mystical mystery sex idol of rock.

As for style, I tried to channel her mystical essence:

However I ended up wearing something more along the lines of:

I knew I just had to have a long black skirt and some red, red lips.

The style around me included a lot of multi-lengthed dresses adorned on middle aged adults closing their eyes to remember the sunshine of the seventies. Stevie wore her signature shawls and black-on-black ensembles while she rocked some of the classics including Rhiannon, Gold Dust Woman, Stand Back, and of course her encore: Landslide.
